NSM MUSIC: A RICH HERITAGECoin operated music has been around since the 19th century in the form of player pianos, musical boxes and the Edison cylinder phonograph. A box resembling something we might recognize as a contemporary jukebox with an automatic changer system did not come onto the market until 1906. Even then it had to be wound up with the sound coming out of a horn speaker!  The 1950’s saw the introduction of the seven-inch single produced for the mass market and also the birth of NSM Music. Co-founders of the company, Herbert Nack, Gerhard W. Schulze, and Wilhelm Menke, revolutionized the jukebox world with the Silver range of wall boxes and free standers, such as the Fanfare Silver.
 By the late eighties, the NSM factory in Bingen was considered the largest jukebox manufacturer in the world, holding many design patents, an industry leader in jukebox cabinet décor and design. Examples include the Performer Classic and the Ultimate.
NSM Music further developed the CD market in the new millennium with the introduction of the latest floor standing machine, the Phoenix, pictured below. 
Today, NSM remains at the cutting edge of new technology by being the first to move into digital music, filing patents for remotely downloading information and connectivity on pay to play machines. This innovation opened up the world of Digital Downloading Jukeboxes. Always one step ahead, in the UK market NSM was granted the very first PPL license ever to go forward with the concept of dubbing and remotely downloading tracks to outside locations. The age of digital music had begun and NSM immediately trialed 25 machines with Leisure Link: the Virtuatrax was an huge success, proving that vastly improved incomes were achieved making the jukebox once again an attractive money earner. NSM Music was the first jukebox manufacturer to develop and operate its own music server and management system, enabling operators to create their own music profiles and fulfill all their requirements from one source. In the US, NSM partnered with the Ecast Music Network. Patrons can select their favorite songs from a massive Music Library of 300,000 + songs. Some innovative Ecast features are Single Song Download, “Make Mine First” selection option, automatically configured playlists and hit music from all the major labels. NSM continues to be successful in its sixth decade. The launch of the Icon® series in 2006-7 has demonstrated the ambition and desire of the company to be at the forefront of the industry, both for its technical innovation and its commercial acumen. Now manufacturing in Europe and the USA, NSM Music is carrying on the proud traditions of its German founders.
